Bantu Mzwakali has joined Swedish second division side IK Brage on a 1-year contract.
The 26-year-old impressed during Brage’s pre-season training.
Mzwakali’s career has somehow become stagnate since he left Ajax Cape Town for Chippa United some years ago.
The attacking midfielder then left Chippa for Bidvest Wits and ended up at GladAfrica Championship side, Cape Umoya United, until the end of last season.
IK Brage released a statement on their new signing Bantu, that reads as follows;
“The offensive midfielder, who has not played outside the South African league, is incredibly happy and expectant of his new challenge and looks forward to making his debut in green and white.
Bantu has spent a couple of weeks in Borlänge with IK Brage, where he made a good impression on the Brage organization.
“Bantu is an offensive and experienced player, with over 100 matches in Ajax Cape Town in the South African Premier League, which we have had with us for a couple of weeks for evaluation. We like a lot of what we have seen, he is well-trained, has a good understanding of the game, is good in the combination game and is quick with a good exchange.
“Then there is always an adaptation to a new country, a new way of playing and new teammates that will have to take a bit here in the preseason. It will be exciting to see his development in our operations, the plan is for Bantu to make his first minutes in Bragetröjan against Sandvikens IF in this year’s first training match, Saturday, 1/2 at 13:00 on Kvarnsvedens IP, says Ola Lundin, Sports Manager in IK Brage.
“We warmly welcome Bantu to IK Brage, Borlänge, Dalarna and Sweden.”
