Namibia pumped up for Bafana clash

Namibia head coach Bobby Samaria is confident that his men are in the right frame of mind ahead of their international friendly match against Bafana Bafana on Thursday at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

The Brave Warriors arrived in Rustenburg on Tuesday in high spirits with coach Samaria expecting his troops to put up a fight against their Southern African rivals.

The encounter will kick off at 18:00 and will be live on SABC 3.

“We had a good 45 minutes in the morning [Wednesday] and the boys are settling in well. The professionals are in top shape and as usual, Peter Shalulile is leading the charge with his energy,” said Samaria.

“In terms of where we are competition-wise, the objective at the end of the day is to measure our standard to the South African standard and see if we can meet it.

“We are not oblivious though, we have included six (6) of our foreign-based players. They will bring in more drive and experience to add to that of our local players,” added the Namibia mentor.

Samaria went on to explain the team selection and Orlando Pirates’ Deon Hotto’s omission from his final 30-man squad.

“We decided to focus only on the players in the region because of the travelling challenges from around the world as part of the necessary precautions to combat Covid-19 in various countries.”

“Hotto is currently rehabilitating from an injury and was not considered for this game. He remains a key player for us, but we need to respect protocols in place.”

Samaria will name his match-day team on Thursday afternoon ahead of the clash that comes in handy ahead of the November Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
