Ncikazi surpasses Komphela

Golden Arrows have improved tremendously under the tutelage of Mandla Ncikazi.

The KwaZulu Natal side has been enjoying one of their greatest campaigns in the DStv Premiership.

With just 19 rounds of domestic league Abafana Bes’thende have already bettered their records from last season when they were led by Steve Komphela. Arrows currently occupy 2nd position on the Dstv Premiership table, four points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

They are one point better than the whole of last season after 30 games.

Ncikazi’s troops have also also been clinical in front of goals, managing 29 goals, six better than last season while also keeping discipline at the back. They have conceded 18 goals thus far, with a goal-to-match ratio of 0.95 goal per match, giving them a 11-goal difference. This is another improvement compared to the last campaign ratio of 1.53 goals conceded the whole campaign.

Arrows have only lost two matches under Ncikazi compared to 12 defeats in the previous campaign and they are unlikely to lose nine in the present season. The Lamontville side will need to turn their draws into victories as the 2020/21 season gets to the climax stage. So far they have shared spoils on 8 occasions.

Abafana Bes’thende are title contenders this season compared to avoiding relegation from the previous campaign. They have already bagged a Q2 prize of 1.5 million for accumulating more points than any team after 7 matches of the second quarter of the season.

Ncikazi has put his faith in a relatively young team, which comprises of players averaging to 26. 8 of age. They have also shared the responsibility of scoring with five capable goal scorers contributing to a total of 21 thus far.

Abafana Bes’thende will look to emulate the class of 2002/03 season side that finished 4th on the log with 51 points with just four points behind league champions, SuperSport United.
