ABC Motsepe League side Ndengeza FC were involved in a terrible accident after their league game against Ditlou FC on Friday in Groblersdal, Limpopo.
‘Ka Tika’ – their nickname that means it’s difficult, were travelling back home on the R37 Mashishing road following their 2-1 defeat when their bus was involved in a head on collision with another vehicle leaving the driver of the other car deceased.
The bus that the Giyani-based side were travelling in caught fire on the scene, but all the players managed to be rescued and rushed to the Petersburg Hospital in Polokwane and are reportedly fine.
Team owner Akani Siweya confirmed to FARPost.co.za this morning that although the players are still traumatised, everyone is fine.
“We do advise that the entire team managed to escape the terrible fire that caught the bus on the scene and we can confirm that everyone was rushed to the Polokwane Hospital, this morning they were reported to be ok and immediately discharged, but a few have minor injuries,” he said.
“We will communicate the way forward in regard to the team’s activities after reporting to SAFA Limpopo.”
Ndengeza suffered their 3rd defeat of the season in a match that was marred by controversy after the match officials added 17 minutes of additional time. They are currently in 6th position with 15 points from 10 games.
