New Leopards coach to arrive next week

Black Leopards chairman David Thidiela has confirmed the appointment of Patrick Aussems as the new head coach ahead as of the beginning of the new DStv Premiership season.

The Belgian coach joins Lidoda Duvha on a three-year deal.

Aussems will arrive in South Africa either on Sunday or Monday where he will be formally introduced.

“He (Aussems) is coming next week,” Thidiela confirmed to FARPost.

“He is a very good coach. He has had success wherever he coached so we also expect the same here.

“We will wait for him to arrive and assess the team before we know who to release because the registration only closes in November. But he is coming, you will see him. Teams will be beaten next season,” he said.

Thidiela also gave an update on the future of the current technical team members.

“He will work with Morgan (Shivambu) and (Mongezi) Bobe but we still need to finalise if Bobe has to go back to his MDC role because he is doing a stunning job there,” concluded Thidiela.

The 55-year-old has coached clubs such as Simba SC (Tanzania) and AC Leopards (Congo).

He guided Simba to the Tanzanian Premier League title in 2018/19 and reached the quarter finals of the African Champions League during the same season.
