Kaizer Chiefs have now set sights on winning their DStv Premiership clash against Maritzburg United on Saturday at FNB Stadium.

The game will kick-off at 17:00 in the afternoon.

The Glamour Boys landed back in the country on Wednesday from their CAF Champions League second leg encounter against Primeiro de Agosto of Angola.

Amakhosi made history by defeating the Angolan side 1-0 in a CAF Champions League first round second leg to advance to the group stage of the competition for the first time.

The Soweto giants midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is very hopeful that Chiefs will continue with their fine form from the trip to Angola.

“Angola was a lot of work, but we enjoyed ourselves there. We did well as a team, and we managed to win. We worked very hard,” Ngcobo told the club’s official website.

The SA U23 international highlighted that it is very important to put their win over Primeiro behind and switch focus to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) game.

“At the end of the day it’s football and that’s how it is. You move from game to game and just ensure that you keep your spirits up,” he adds.

“We now need to make sure that we fight against Maritzburg. It won’t be easy though. We need to prepare ourselves and be ready to fight,” adds the youngster.

The 21-year-old has been outstanding and consistent this season, having not missed any of his club’s league fixtures.

“We managed to beat them in the MTN8 quarterfinals which tells us that it is possible for us to win if we work as a team and fight for each other,” stated the Pietermaritzburg-born footballer.

“They did win their last game against Bloemfontein Celtic so I think they will come up with the same mindset in searching for another win. We need to be prepared to face a difficult opponent.”

Chiefs will be facing former coach Ernst Middendorp who took over the coaching reins from Eric Tinkler in late November 2020.

“It will be fun to play against Ernst Middendorp, our former coach. We will be ready for him and his team,” he says in conclusion.
