Dutch coach Jan Olde Riekerink has deemed left-winger Aubrey Ngoma unfit to play for Cape Town City.
Ngoma re-joined the ‘Citizens’ from parent club Mamelodi Sundowns on a season-long deal back in October 2020 but due to injuries, he hasn’t featured in a match for his new club in the 2020/21 campaign.
But it has been reported that Ngoma had started light training with the team in January and returned to full training most recently.
Riekerink said that the 2016/17 PSL Midfielder of the Season will make his first appearance in a friendly match after their DStv Premiership game SuperSport United on Saturday.
The 31-year-old last featured in an official match in the 2019/20 season but Riekerink insists that it is only a matter of time before the talented player makes his much-anticipated return.
“This season I expect he will be part of the matchday squad in a very short time,” said the City coach.
“So that means he is ready to play but it doesn’t mean that he is fit to play because before he came to Cape Town City [from Sundowns] he didn’t play a lot of matches.
“After we come back from SuperSport [Saturday, 13 February] we will have a friendly match and I think that will be the first time that he makes his first appearance,” concluded Olde Riekerink.
