Former Zambian Premier League champions Nkana survived relegation on the final day following a goalless draw against NAPSA Stars, while a twist of events saw Young Green Eagles relegated following a ruling by FAZ to award Nkana three points in the game against the Kafue-based outfit.
Nkana who needed at least a draw to survive were also relying on either Lusaka Dynamos or Kabwe Warriors to do them a favour by beating Young Green Eagles or Indeni respectively.
At Woodlands Stadium, it ended in a goalless draw but both sides finished with 10 men after Ackim Mumba and Daniel Crentsil Obeng were sent off both for a second bookable offense.
Nkana survived thanks to Kabwe Warriors who beat Indeni 3-2 thanks to a Jimmy Ndhlovu hat-trick.
With the FAZ Decision in their favour, Nkana finished in 13th place with 45 points.
Indeni, on the other hand, survive following the boardroom decision that saw a week 32 match between Nkana and Young Green Eagles overturned by the FAZ player Status Committee, awarding Nkana three points and three goals.
Nkana protested Young Green Eagles’ alleged use of an ineligible player who was serving a red card suspension but before the match the FAZ secretariat had waived the suspension and instead fined Young Green Eagles K5,000.00 which the club paid.
Young Green Eagles had their eligible goalkeepers injured while another was on national duty with the Chipolopolo. Young Green Eagles requested a waiver and were granted to field the suspended player who sat on the bench during the fixture.
