Cape Town City FC are going through what is arguably their worst season since the club was formed 4 seasons ago.

The Citizens are languishing at the bottom half of the Absa Premiership log with just 17 points in 18 games, and just 1 point off 16th placed Polokwane City.

City recently replaced former coach and Bafana Bafana all time leading top scorer, Benni McCarthy with experienced Dutch born Jan Olde Riekerink in the hope that their fortunes will turn for the better.

But results seems to be hard to come by for the Cape based side, with their recent result being a 3-0 away loss to in-form Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium last weekend.

Up next for City is title chasing Bidvest Wits at the majestic Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night, and star midfielder Thabo Nodada says the know what to expect.

However, it won’t be easy for the Braamfontein side as City are looking to go further up the log and move away from their current log position. And Nodada promises to fight fire with fire.

“We don’t have any other option. Everybody right now has got to draw inspiration from I don’t know where but from whereever. It doesn’t have to be football, it doesn’t have to be whatever you draw inspiration from, whatever makes you wake up in the morning and be like you’re going to own whatever is in your way because I think that’s the type of characters we need in the team right now.”

Nodada also makes special mention of 2 of his teammates in Surprise Ralani (below) and Kermit Erasmus and says the forwards have been an inspiration to the team in the last couple of games.

Bradley Ralani.

“I don’t think I have to say how important Romeo (Erasmus) is to the team, I think you only have to look at the amount of goals he has scored and you will see how much he has contributed to the team. I mean, he’s scored about 60 to 70 percent of the team’s goals if I am not mistaken.

“He’s very important and it’s very important for us to get him to where he needs to be. To get him to full fitness, to get him back at full confidence and to het him firing,” concluded the Citizens vice-captain.

Kick off for the Cape Town City and Bidvest Wits game is at 8:15pm .
