Ntseki call up five players as replacements

Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has called up five players including Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule to replace those who have withdrawn from the camp ahead of the back to back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe.

Thibang Phete, Andile Jali, Reeve Frosler and Thulani Serero are all out due to sustaining injuries while Abubakar Mobara and Thami Mkhize are in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.

With the team assembling in Durban ahead of Friday evening’s clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Pule’s good form in the new season has earned him a call-up, along with Thapelo Morena, Mosa Lebusa, Tshepo Rikhotso and Thabo Nodada as replacements.

Bafana will tackle on Sao Tome at Moses Mabhida on Friday in a match set to kick-off at t 21h00 before travelling to Port Elizabeth to meet the same opponents. The match in Nelson Mandela Bay will start at 15h00 on Monday.

Still to arrive are Kamohelo Mokotjo, Bongani Zungu, who played his first game for Glasgow Rangers where he came in the last 45 minutes, and Dean Furman. The three are all expected to arrive late on Tuesday.

Percy Tau and Keagan Dolly will land in Durban early on Tuesday while Luther Singh is expected in later on Monday.

Ntseki’s men will be expecting to bag six points from the two matches that will give South Africa a stronghold for qualification for the Cameroon Afcon tournament.
