Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic is expected to return to training for Kaizer Chiefs in two weeks’ time.
Nurkovic, who was the club’s top goal scorer for the 2019/20 campaign has been sidelined with a groin injury which has kept him out of active competition for two months as he has missed Chiefs’ six opening matches so far this sseason.
He underwent surgery on his groin following the final game of last season in the bio bubble against Baroka and has been missed by the Amakhosi new head coach Gavin Hunt as his men are struggling to score goals.
The Glamour Boys have struggled in Nurkovic’s absence, winning just two of their last six matches in all competitions while netting only just three goals in the process.
“Samir Nurkovic is reported progressing well and the medical team are anticipating his return to the training fields in two weeks’ time. The striker is recovering from a surgery that has seen him miss the start of this season,” said Chiefs in a statement released on Tuesday.

He was subsequently withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad due to play in the Cameroon Afcon qualifiers this weekend,” reads the statement.
“Following the medical examination, the fullback cum midfielder underwent MRI which confirmed he will be sidelined for 8 weeks.”
