Kaizer Chiefs hitman Samir Nurkovic has walked away with the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month for December.
Nurkovic’s goal was one of 3 he scored in Amakhosi’s 5-3 win over Bloemfontein Celtic at Moses Mabhida Stadium on December 7.
The 27-year-old found the back of the net from a Lebohang Manyama cross. Nurkovic slotted the ball home from a tight angle.
Chiefs win back to back Goal of the Month awards after Dumisani Zuma’s goal against Chippa United was voted Goal of the Month for November 2019.
“I want to thank the fans for voting for me for this Goal of the Month. It shows that they appreciate what we are doing as players. I also give credit to my teammates,” said Nurkovic.
Some of the players that were nominated for the December Goal of the Month include Celtic duo of Butholezwe Ncube and Bonginkosi Ntuli as well as Orlando Pirates duo Kabelo Dlamini and Linda Mntambo, Gift Motupa and Bradley Grobler of Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United respectively.
The Serbian has been one of Chiefs’ key players this season in their quest for the league honours with 11 goals from 18 games in all competitions.
He is second on the PSL Top scorers charts with 10 goals, only 2 behind in-form Gabadinho Mhango of Pirates.
Chiefs are top of the log standings with 42 points in 18 games and lead second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns with 7 points.
Nurkovic and Chiefs will next travel to KwaZulu-Natal to face Golden Arrows on Saturday at their favourite hunting ground, Moses Mabhida Stadium as they look to extend their lead at the summit of the Absa Premiership log.
