As reported by FARPost about a week ago, the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League outfit NWU Vaal is finally up for sale.
This comes after the team manager Mr Thomas Thema submitted a proposal to sell the side because of the financial constraints faced by the club last season.
Following a meeting with the University hierarchy on 18 June 2021, the University succumbed to a decision to put the team on the market.
“We met with the University and a decision was taken to sell the club,” Thema confirms the news in an interview with FARPost.
“However, we have rejected all the offers that have come up so far.”
The team manager did not disclose the price but insists the club is still on sale.
“If we don’t get any offer before the 30th of June 2021, then we will continue with the club. You know, if people are going to come to us after the 30th – they have a tendency to give you less of what you want,” he laments.
‘The Purple Army’ finished fifth place in the provincial ABC Motsepe League stream B table with 17 points from 14 outings.
This was their first season in the South African football third-tier, having been promoted last year December.
