Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda was rather pleased with the Telkom Knockout last 16 draw that will see them face SuperSport United.
Bakgaga will travel to Pretoria to face SuperSport United who are high in confidence after being crowed Champions of the 2019 MTN 8 competition.
The Ga-Mphahlele side are the defending champions of the Telkom Knockout after beating Orlando Pirates in the final at Port Elizabeth last year.
Their journey to the final was not a smooth ride as they had to eliminate Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits before reaching the final.
Nyirenda says challenging for cup competitions help the pedigree of the team.
“This is important for us because it shows the pedigree which the team has grown to be. You have to face the best teams in the League for you to be called a bigger team, you can not be playing smaller teams and say you are a bigger team, No. If you want to play smaller teams then you go back to division one”
The Zambian mentor also insists they learnt from their mistakes last season of doing well in the cup but failed to cope in the Absa Premiership afterwards.
“There is always a learning curve when you are playing football. I think we have learnt some lessons from last season so we are coming back into this one knowing how to balance things”
Baroka remain the only football club from the Limpopo Province to have ever won a domestic cup competition since the inception of the Premier Soccer League in 1996.
