Spanish giants Barcelona have confirmed the appointment of Ronald Koeman as the club’s new coach on a two-year deal.
The appointment follows the dismissal of coach Quique Setien on Monday.
“Barcelona and Ronald Koeman have reached an agreement for the Dutchman to take over as first team coach until 30 June 2022,” the club announced on their official website.
The 57-year-old leaves his role as Netherlands coach, having been in charge since 2018.
Koeman spent six years as a player at Barcelona from 1989 to 1995 and was a member of Johan Cruyff’s legendary ‘Dream Team’.
He won four La Liga titles and scored the winning goal in the 1992 European Cup final during his playing days at the Nou Camp.
Koeman was Louis van Gaal’s right-hand man at the club from 1998 to 2000.
