TS Galaxy have officially confirmed their purchase of Highlands Park.
The confirmation comes after conflicting reports this week that the Premier Soccer League had rejected the sale based on section 112 of the Companies Act.
But Galaxy have since released a statement on Thursday confirming the completion of the deal.
“TS Galaxy Football Club is proud to officially announce the acquisition of the status of Premiership division club, Highlands Park FC,” read the statement.
“The acquisition comes at the back of lengthy and delicate discussions, where a mutual agreement was finally reached by both parties which will see TS Galaxy Football Club campaigning in the premier division of South African football as of the 2020/21 season.
“As a result, TS Galaxy FC’s status in the GladAfrica Championship has been sold back to its former holders, Cape Town All Stars,” the club said.
Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed the return of Dan “Dance” Malesela as the head coach.
“The accomplishments of Malesela with TS Galaxy are well documented, having led the club to its historic Nedbank Cup triumph which has made TS Galaxy the only Club from the lower ranks to win South Africa’s FA Cup. Malesela will be assisted by Esau Mtsweni, who joined the club last season as an assistant coach,” they added.
Former head Coach Mabhuti Khenyeza will now be coach of the MultChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) side while former Bidvest Wits FC player and Goalkeeper Coach, Tyron Damons will be heading up the goalkeeping department.
Former defender Thabo Nthethe will take up the Team Manager role.
The club will use the Mbombela Stadium as their home venue for the season as their traditional home base, Kameelrivier Stadium does not meet the standards of hosting premiership fixtures.
