Maritzburg United goalkeeper Richard Ofori might have dropped a hint of where he might be heading next season.
Speculation is rife about the destination of the 28-year-old Ghanaian shot stopper fueled by the fact that he has not renewed his contract with the Team of Choice’ which expires in June.
Orlando Pirates and CAF Champions League regulars Mamelodi Sundowns, are said to be interested.
“I want to play for a big team, maybe Champions League and stuff. I can say that I want to play for big team and Champions League,” said Ofori.
“But I need to start here first. That’s what I’m doing. I can’t say now but what I’m doing, I’m enjoying in Maritzburg United.”
“That’s the most important thing. I don’t know for now whether I’m leaving but I’m enjoying Maritzburg United. I have a one-year option with them, ” added Ofori.
A few weeks ago, Ofori revealed that it would be better if he joins the team where there are familiar faces which points to Pirates.
‘Bucs’ has his former coach and ex-teammates in Fadlu Davids, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Fortune Makaringe.
At Sundowns, that constantly plays in the Champions League, he could be re-united with Lebogang Maboe.
“I can’t say I’m leaving but you always need to train and do whatever. You need to enjoy every moment of your life. You need to brighten every corner you are in and then leave the rest to God.
“Because sometimes you can say you want to go here but the future is not in our hands, the future belongs to God, He decides to do whatever He wants with your life. So, I’m enjoying it here, we don’t know what the future holds. I’m still a Maritzburg United player,” concludes Ofori.
On Friday evening at Harry Gwala Stadium, Maritzburg beat 1-0 Polokwane City in an tAbsa Premiership encounter in what was their fourth consecutive win at home with Ofori keeping a clean sheet.
