Olisa Ndah ‘is a dominant force’

In a short period of time, Olisa Ndah has won the hearts of the Orlando Pirates faithfuls and has quickly established himself in the DStv Premiership.

A section of the Pirates supporters are convinced that they have signed a real gem in Ndah, who joined the club at the beginning of the season from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Akwa United.

Bucs’ co-coach Fadlu Davids, like several football Pundits and supporters, had high praise for the Nigerian defender following the Soweto giants’ comprehensive 3-0 victory over Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium on Wednesday.

Ndah was denied what appeared to be a legitimate goal when he netted from close range in the 76th minute, but his effort was adjudged to be offside in the Stellies clash.

Ndah is quite dominant in the air, I am not sure what happened [disallowed goal] but he is just unfortunate for him in terms of scoring his first goal for Pirates,” said Davids.

The centre-back pairing of captain Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Ndah has instantly helped the Buccaneers as they have now kept back-to-back clean sheets in the league with the new partnership of the two defenders in the absence of Happy Jele and Thulani Hlatswayo.

The 23-year-old Ndah has made seven league appearances so far for Pirates, who are in seventh place on the log table after 12 matches with four wins, six draws and two defeats.

“Pirates will come, he is a dominant force, not only in attacking set pieces but really in the defence line,” added Davids. “He [Ndah] is doing well with the new partnership now with Nyauza”.

Davids also Davids heaped praise on midfield maestro Collins Makgaka, who scored his first goal in Pirates colours against Stellenbosch.

Makgaka has only made a handful of appearances since joining Pirates from Baroka last year and the 25-year-old showed his potential as he was handed a rare start.

“Collins was absolutely fantastic. His calmness in between the lines and then also finding players in behind the defense lines,” he said.

“When he has the ball you are guaranteed that to have a 1-on-1 if you make the correct run.”
