ON THIS DAY: TS Galaxy make History

It was exactly on this day in 2019 when Mpumalanga-based side TS Galaxy made history by becoming the first club from a lower division to win the Nedbank Cup.

The Rockets defeated Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the Final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium via a late penalty goal by Zakhele Lepasa under coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela.

They went on to represent South Africa at the CAF Confederations Cup and were knocked out in the play-offs for a Group Stage spot by Nigerian giants Enyimba.

First round: Umvoti 1-3 TS Galaxy

Second round: Jomo Cosmos 0-1 TS Galaxy

Quarterfinal: Cape Umoya United 1-2 TS Galaxy

Semifinal: Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-3 TS Galaxy

Goals scored: 15

Goals against: 5

Terrence Mashego was voted the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament while Zakhele Lepasa was voted Player of the Tournament.
