ON THIS DAY: Meyiwa passes on

It’s been six years since Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was murdered and still no justice served.

It was on 26 October 2014 when South Africa and especially the football fraternity woke up to the devastating news of Meyiwa’s death.

He was shot dead at the house of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Vosloorus, but despite his father Sam Meyiwa’s best efforts to put pressure on the SA Police Service (SAPS), the case remains unsolved.

Sadly, Sam Meyiwa, pictured below, also passed on last year in July, without getting any justice for his beloved son.

We live in hope that justice will be served.

The Sunday Independent reported yesterday (Sunday) that five men have been arrested for the murder and that they are already sitting in jail for other crimes.

Perhaps the police are finally on to something.
