The top four race is going down to the wire as Chelsea and Manchester United prepare for their penultimate fixtures on Wednesday.
While Liverpool and Manchester City have already secured their places in next season’s UEFA Champions League, the next three teams are fighting for two places and lie within a single point of each other.
Chelsea are in pole position out of the three sides, and they can cement a top four finish on Wednesday, before their final day home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
However, to do so they will need to win away against champions Liverpool, who are unbeaten in 58 Premier League matches at Anfield.
Fourth-placed Leicester City and fifth-placed Man Utd will meet in what looks set to be a decisive head-to-head at King Power Stadium on Sunday.
But, in the meantime, Man Utd have a match in hand against West Ham United, with the result dictating what the Red Devils will need to do in the Midlands on the final day.
A victory over David Moyes’ Hammers would mean Man Utd could afford to draw at Leicester. But a midweek defeat would force United to win at King Power Stadium because of goal difference.
If Man Utd beat West Ham, and Leicester then beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team at the weekend, Chelsea would need three points from their remaining two matches to stay in the top four.
