Orange Vaal Professionals still alive and kicking

The confusion of Orange Vaal Professionals FC not playing in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League emerged when the current season saw all teams which did not gain promotion in the previous season on the log but did not see the likes of Vaal Professionals.

Vaal Professionals are based in Vereeniging which was a founder member of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in 1996. It is one of the successful clubs in South Africa winning the NPSL three times in 1986, 1987 and 1988. They also won the BobSave Super bowl in 1994, now known as the Nedbank Cup.

However, having played in the top division to the ABC League, the side with rich history produced household names such as Robinson Seakamela, the late Fortune Koloba, Simon ‘The Bull’ Lehoko, Geelbooi ‘Goma Goma’ Masango.

The club is currently depicted as FC RESA on the ABC Motsepe League charts awaiting name change, and have high ambitions to get the team promoted to the GladAfrica Championship and PSL.

“Well, our objective is to take back the Vaal Professionals into the elite league again and to bring back football in the Vaal,” said the club assistant manager Innocent Mofokeng.

They have on their radar Lerato Mofokeng who was previously in the books of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) and few others.

“We did some good signings and the coaches have done well to assemble the squad. We signed the likes of Lerato Mofokeng from TTM, Gift Sithole from Mthatha Bucs FC. I can say we have a good squad of experienced players from ABC which we feel as a club we will compete with the rest of the teams in the league” concluded Mofokeng.
