Victor Osimhen’s great start to the 2021/22 season has been rewarded.
The Nigerian striker has been voted as the Serie A Player of the Month for September after netting four Serie A goals and assisting another strike in six appearances for Napoli.
To win the award, he has shrugged off competition from AC Milan attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz, Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella and Fiorentina’s Giacomo Bonaventura who have also had a good start to the campaign.
Overall, Osimhen has netted seven goals in six games across all competitions for the log leaders who have been unstoppable this season.
His first goal came in a 4-0 win against Udinese before he scored twice against Sampdoria.
Osimhen then found the back of the net as the Parthenopeans defeated Cagliari 2-0.
Napoli’s next league game is against a stubborn Torino side on the 17th of October.
The striker is currently in camp with the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they prepare to take on the Central African Republic in the Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
They sit on top of Group C with six points from their opening two qualifiers. Gernot Rohr’s charges defeated Liberia 2-0 at home before thumping Cape Verde away from home last month.
