Share

Tashreeq Matthews opened his account in Sweden while Bongani Zungu stars in a thriller in Ligue 1 as we wrap up this weekend’s action for our boys overseas.

BONGANI ZUNGU

The SA international midfielder took centre stage in Ligue 1 with yet another good performance against a big club.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns anchor played the whole 90 minutes for SC Amiens as they got a big 2-2 draw against giants Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1.

LEBOGANG PHIRI

It wasn’t a happy return from suspension for Phiri as he played the entire game for EA Guingamp in their 2-1 loss against Rodez in a French Ligue 2 encounter.

PERCY TAU & LYLE FOSTER

It was the Brugge Derby on Saturday evening Foster’s Cercle Brugge locking horns with Tau’s Club Brugge. Both players started on the bench but it was Foster who made a second half appearance playing the last 19 minutes as Cercle Brugge lost 2-1 in the end against the runway log leaders. Fellow countryman Tau was an unused substitute for Club Brugge.

THABO CELE

Thabo Cele was in the thick of things in the midfield for Cova Di Piedade as they left it until the 88th minute to score a late winner to defeat Covilha in the Portuguese Segunda Liga. The good thing for Cele is that he is a regular but the bad news is his club is bottom of the log with the season almost finished.

KOBAMELO KODISANG

After coming on in the second half the SA U23 international winger grabbed his second goal of the season for SC Braga B as they ran out 2-0 winners against Oliveirense in the Portuguese third tier.

SIYABONGA LIGENDZA

He was the main man for Cardiff City’s U18s as he scored two goals to help them drown Newport 3-1 in the League.

KATLEGO MASHIGO

The SA U20 international Katlego Mashigo played 60 minutes and grabbed two assists for Bohemians FC U19 as they thrashed Waterford 7-1 in Ireland.

MAY MAHLANGU

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu played assisted the only goal of the match as Ordabasy won 1-0 against rivals Okzhetpes as the Kazakhstan Premier league got underway this weekend.

TASHREEQ MATTHEWS, KEANIN AYER & LUKE LE ROUX.

Matthews seems to have started life well with his new club in Sweden as he started his second game in a row and scored the opening goal of the game as Varbergs Bois drew 1-1 against IF Brommapojkarna in the Swedish Svenska Cupen.

Ayer also started and finished the game in the midfield while Le Roux was an unused substitute for the Allsvansken new boys.
