Parker hurting as Fulham get relegated

Scott Parker admitted that he was ‘gutted’ and ‘hurt’ as his Fulham side were relegated from the Premier League after a a 2-0 defeat at home by Burnley on Monday night.

Goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood gave Burnley the win at Craven Cottage.

The defeat left Fulham in 18th spot on 27 points, 10 behind Southampton with three games left to play, while Burnley rose from 17th to 14th on 39 points.

“I’m bitterly disappointed, I’m hurt … there’s no words that I can really put together, other than I’m gutted that we’ve not managed to be successful this year,” Parker told Sky Sports.

Fulham return back to the Championship after a single season in the top flight following their promotion via the playoffs.

“In between both boxes this year, we’ve had our moments and looked a very, very good side. Where we’ve fallen short at times is the other side of that, and tonight again defensively, the two goals are poor goals,” added Parker.

“While we get the ball in the right areas in those clinical moments when you need the final details.

“We’ve fallen a little bit short. While we’ve had progression, while we’ve had moments where we’ve improved, we’ve fallen short at this level,” concluded Parker.
