Ayanda Patosi has helped FC Foolad reach the Iranian Cup final.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder registered his name on the score sheet to help the club defeat Malavan 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
Foolad dominated proceedings from the first whistle and it was no surprise when the South African slotted home from close range in the 34th minute of the game to give the home side a deserved lead.
Iranian striker Vahid Heydarier doubled Foolad’s advantage in the 44th minute as the home side held on to seal an important victory.
The win ensured that Foolad book their spot in the final where they will take on Patosi’s former club Esteghlal who defeated Gor Gohar 2-1 in the other semi-final.
Both clubs have three days to rest before the all-important final at the Naghsh-e-Jahan Stadium on Sunday evening.
Patosi had a good 2020/21 campaign with Foolad as he played 27 games and scored five Iran Pro League goals.
He also found the back of the net in the Asian Champions League as Foolad were eliminated in the group stages phase of the competition.
After a successful loan stint in the previous campaign, Patosi joined the Asian club permanently from Cape Town City last season.
