Percy Tau’s Club Brugge teammate Emmanuel Dennis looks set to leave the Belgian champions before the start of the 2020/21 season.
According to the Daily Mail, the Nigeria international will part ways with the Belgium Pro League club.
Brugge head coach Philippe Clement has conceded that the 22-year-old will leave the club with Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Sheffield United, Watford, Monaco and Sampdoria all linked with him.
“It is very likely that Dennis will leave,” Clement said. “He can also count on a lot of interest. It is the time for him to take a new step.”
Dennis, who is contracted to Brugge until 2022, joined the Belgian giants from Ukrainian club side Zorya Luhansk three years ago.
He scored 9 goals in 33 appearances for the Belgium Pro League champions across all competitions this season, including two in the club’s 2-2 draw away to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
His South African teammate, Tau, is on loan at the club from English Premiership side Brighton & Hove Albion. It remains unclear whether Tau will stay at the club beyond this season.
The Bafana Bafana international had to wait another season before he makes his debut for his English side. Tau joined Brighton at the start of the 2018/19 season after an impressive start to his career with Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, the diminutive forward was not able to secure a work permit and was therefore not eligible to be registered for that Premier League campaign.
isa restrictions are far less stringent in Belgium and several top English clubs actually have affiliated teams in the country where they can send players faced with situations like this on loan to get match experience.
