Bafana Bafana Team Doctor Thulani Ngwenya has given yet another update on the injury fears within the squad ahead of the 25th edition of the Nelson Mandela Challenge against Mali at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

Brandon Petersen, Thamsanqa Mkhize and Bongani Zungu are players that have so far been officially withdrawn from the squad because of injuries.

There were also serious concerns over the fitness of players such as Dean Furman, Percy Tau and Lebo Mothiba.

On Dean Furman

“Dean Furman has improved, he shows a marked improvement with his injury so he is finishing his last part of treatment today and then tomorrow (Wednesday) he should be able to train.”

On Percy Tau

“I am sure the people I waiting to hear about is Percy tau. Percy is here and we have assessed him, He will be training but with monitoring. His injury is not that bad, but we will be monitoring him during training sessions.”

On Lebo Mothiba

“Lebo Mothiba has a groin strain and we are treating him so he should be able to train today but also under monitoring.”

“Other players that I spoke about before was Tower (Eric Mathoho), Themba (Zwane), Ronwen Williams and Bradley (Grobler). Yes, they have minor injuries and we are managing them, however they are training fully with the rest of the squad”
