Banyana Banyana have defeated Ghana 3-0 in their opening Group A clash of the Aisha Buhari Cup on Friday evening.
Desiree Ellis’ side made the brighter start to the match as they pressed forward in numbers searching for the first goal.
The goal finally came through Hildah Magaia in the 17th minute of the contest.
Ghana, on the other hand, barely ventured into Banyana’s half.
The showdown went into the interval with 1-0 scoreline in favour of South Africa.
A dominant display by Banyana in the second stanza led to another goal of the day in the 53rd minute by Atletico Madrid star, Thembi Kgatlana.
As the second half progressed, it was an encouraging period for Ghana, but the game turned scrappy and congested as both sides looked to establish control in midfield.
Despite Ghana trying to fight back into the game, it was South Africa who added to the scoreline when Sibulele Holweni found the back of the net to make it 3-0 in the 83rd minute.
The victory will be a confident booster for Banyana moving forward in the tournament.
