Kaizer Chiefs defender Philani Zulu is content with playing football at this time of the year, citing that being active will keep them away from the dangers of life.
Amakhosi will host Primeiro de Agosto from Angola in the Caf Champions League first round first leg at FNB Stadium on Wednesday. Kick off is 18h00.
Preparations for the fixture have kept Zulu and his teammates busy as they aim to get a good result at home before traveling to Angola on the first week of January. And Zulu is grateful for the busy schedule.
“As we are still playing during the festive season, I think it’s good for us to avoid certain situations, and also there’s Covid-19,” he said.
“So, I prefer to be with the team right now because there’s a lot of things happening right now.”
He revealed that preparations were going well as they were still working on rectifying their mistakes.
The Soweto giants have started off badly in the DStv Premiership and MTN8 campaign. Zulu admits it will not get any easy in the CAF competition.
“As we are not doing well at home, when we go into CAF it gets more tough as we play with teams we don’t know how they play in their country. We just prepare ourselves on anything that can happen on the day.
“We also focus on ourselves on how we can do better against people we don’t know and how they play.”
A win for Chiefs will take the pressure off Gavin Hunt’s men after going six matches without a straight win.
