Manchester City defender Phillipe Sandler has returned to full training with the Premier League log leaders.
The 24-year-old has been out since September last year after undergoing surgery on his left foot. He has been slowly making his way back and recently returned to training with the first team at Etihad Campus.
Sandler has not had a smooth stay in Manchester since making a move from PEC Zwolle in 2018. He has managed to make just one appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side and this was back in the 2018/19 FA Cup.
This season, the defender has only played one game with the reserve team in Premier League 2. His best stint was when he was with Zwolle between 2016 and 2018 – he made over 30 Eredivisie appearances for the club.
Last season, City loaned the centre back to Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht where he made nine Pro League appearances before being hit by more injuries.
Born in Amsterdam, Sandler was developed at the esteemed Ajax Amsterdam academy before making a move to Zwolle who offered him his first professional contract.
Manchester City has been ruthless this season and currently sit at the top of the Premier League table with 74 points from 32 games. They recently lost 2-1 against Leeds United, but remain prime favourites to clinch the title.
It remains to be seen if the defender will return to action before the end of the current campaign, but he will be pleased to link up with his teammates.
Although he has a South African father and an American mother, Sandler has represented the Netherlands at youth level, but he is yet to declare his allegiance at senior level.
