Orlando Pirates will be missing Gabadinho Mhango in their MTN8 semifinal first leg clash against rivals Kaizer Chiefs, as a result of an injury.
In comes Zakhele Lepasa, who will be expected to deliver the much needed goals.
Is he up to the challenge? FARPost Editor Tiyani wa ka Mabasa reckons he’s got enough in him to trouble the Chiefs defence and who else can help the Buccaneers win at home?
Lepasa is a striker with potential to do well in the Premier Soccer League, but he’s battled to win a place in their starting line up. Chiefs fans will not forget him in a hurry after his penalty won TS Galaxy the Nedbank Cup last year at the expense of Amakhosi, when he was on loan at the Mpumalanga club.
Now the stakes are just as high – fire Pirates into a Derby win and in return, there’s a good chance you’d win a regular spot. We will have to wait and see, but Lepasa is capable.
The midfielder was linked with Chiefs for sometime when he was still at the now defunct Bidvest Wits, but as fate would have it he ended up at the doorstep of their nemeis. Now clad in the black and white colours, Monare has a job to do to try get Pirates into the MTN8 decider.
In a game of this magnitude you need players with calm heads and be able to dictate the pace of the game. Monare fits the bill.
He can finish, alright. Dzvukamanja doesn’t score goals in abundance, but he’s good. He knows how to finish so you give him space and you’d be asking for trouble.
