Mamelod Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane was voted Coach of the Month for December and has thanked the club’s supporters, technical team, players and management for their contribution.

“I just want to thank the adjudicators for selecting me to be the Absa Premiership Coach of the Month for December,” he said.

“It has not been easy of course. To be acknowledged, to be recognised but there are important and relevant people who are contributors to the award that I am receiving.

“First are the people who play which are the players. The people who won the games, second is to also to thank my entire technical team for the contributions for the games and the support that they give.

“And also I must thank the Yellow Nation that they are signing their lungs out for the team, they contribute to that and I must also thank the management, the board, the president of the club Dr. Patrice Motsepe for all the support that everybody gives to the team,” said Mosimane.

During the month of December, Mosimane guided Sundowns to two victories over Stellenbosch and Polokwane City as well as playing 1-1 draw against fellow title chasers, Bidvest Wits.

He was chosen ahead of Bidvest Wits’ Gavin Hunt and Norman Mapeza of Chippa United, by a panel of experts made up of commentators, analysts and former players.

“Is unfortunate that I am not around in South Africa to receive the award, but I think everybody knows and understands we are on a Caf Champions League campaign, match day number 5 in Angola, that’s where we are.”

The Brazilians will take on Petro De Luanda in a Group C Caf Champions league encounter at Estadio 11 de Novembro on Saturday, kickoff at 14Hoo.

The 55-year old coach was praised for his great player management and maintaining consistency in the league during a period where they travelled regularly out of the country for the CAF Champions League and played in a domestic cup final.

“We appreciate that we have been recognised and I just want to thank everybody that I have mentioned and to say that thank you for the award, I am just the recipient of all those people I have been thanking.

“I am not playing I am just guiding the programme but I will receive that on behalf of the club and everybody, “concluded Mosimane.
