Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane want to see his side overcome AmaZulu in today’s Telkom Knockout last 16 clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium at 3pm.
“The Amazulu game is a big game – we are expected to win it,” Mosimane told the media.
“The Telkom Knockout is a cup that comes within the (CAF) Champions League and Absa Premiership, and the problem is complex for us because we have games in hand,” said the man nicknamed “Jingles”.
He stressed the importance of the Tshwane club doing well in the competition despite the added responsibility of defending their League title, as well as having to contend with their CAF commitments.
“My problem is not the same as any other team. It is a difficult programme with more heat, we are expected to win the Champions league and we are expected to win the league.”
Pitso also shared his ambitions on winning this cup for the fans in particular .
“Telkom is always a priority for us to win for a few reasons; for our supporters, to create confidence in the club and to win one of the cup trophies,” added Mosimane.
Meanwhile, AmaZulu forward Bongi Ntuli, who previously played for Sundowns, is raring to go.
“I don’t really let the fact that I played for them deter me from doing what I need to do, which is to score goals, so I just take them as any other opponent,” said the Usuthu forward.
“It won’t be an easy game for us because we all know that Sundowns are a big team, and we’ll be playing away so we will have to be at our best to be able to come out victorious.’”
