Jermaine Seoposenwe put in another impressive performance for Braga on Saturday evening.
The Banyana Banyana midfielder started and played the whole 90 minutes as the title chasers beat Albergaria 1-0 in the league to move to nine points in the play-off championship round.
Benfica maintained their 100% record with a 4-2 victory against struggling Maritimo on Sunday afternoon. The Lisbon side remains top of the table with 12 points. Famalicao and Sporting both have 10 points while Braga sits in fourth position with nine points and a game in hand.
Seoposenwe has been an integral part of Braga’s success this season having already helped then lift the Portuguese Cup with a brace in the Portuguese Cup final. They are also in the semi final of this season’s League Cup and have a battle with Sporting Lisbon for a spot in the final.
She has featured in all but two of the club’s games in all competitions and netted three goals so far this season. She plays in the creative midfield role and been the glue that keeps the team together.
The title race is heating up at the top of the log standings, but the top four sides still have to play one another in the coming weeks. Braga will now shift their focus to Sunday’s trip to Sporting Lisbon as they look to keep up with the leading pack.
It’s been a good season for Seoposenwe since she made the move from Real Betis last year. Leandra Smeda has also been making steady progress with FC Famalicao who are also in the running for the title.
Smeda has struggled to get game time, but she has played four games so far in the league since arriving last year.
