Lars Veldwijk was instrumental for FC Suwon this past weekend.
The striker made his 18th league appearance for the club as they romped to a 3-2 win against Seongnam in the Korean K-League.
Veldwijk scored his eighth goal of the current campaign as Suwon moved up to seventh spot on the table with 21 points from 19 league games played so far.
He opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the game to give the visitors the lead at the Tancheon Sports Complex.
Brazilian midfielder Murilo Henrique doubled the advantage for Suwon to ensure that the newly promoted side go into half time firmly in control of the encounter.
Serbian forward Fejsal Mulic pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 51st minute, but Lee Yong-Jae restored the two goal buffer for the visitors 10 minutes later to make it 3-1.
In additional time, Mullic scored his second of the game, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a draw as Suwon took maximum points to climb up to the top half of the table.
Veldwijk moved to Korea and joined giants Hyundai Motors Jeonbuk after leaving Sparta Rotterdam. A local rule which favoured locally-grown talent forced the striker out of Jeonbuk and he opted to join Suwon in the second division.
The striker helped the club gain promotion to the top-flight and he continues to be their source of goals upfront.
