Player of the Weekend: Linda Motlhalo

Banyana Banyan midfielder Linda Motlhalo scored her 4th goal of the season for Swedish Damallsvenskan side Djurgarden IF as they beat Uppsala 2-0 in the league on Sunday afternoon.

The victory took the club up to 9th place on the table with 24 points earned from the 22 games played this season.

Overall, Motlhalo has played 20 league games this season and missed only four encounters due to injury. Since making a move from China’s Beijing BG Phoenix in January the midfielder has established herself as one of the key players for Djurgaden with the club’s style of play and philosophy planned around her in that creative attacking midfield role.

Since scoring two goals on debut back in February in a 2-0 cup victory against AIK the 22-year-old has grown from strength to strength in Sweden and is considered to be amongst the league’s top midfielders in her position in the 2020 campaign. The regular season has come to a close in Sweden and it was a big success for the midfielder, now she will take a much-needed rest before the season resumes next year January.
