Luther Singh has been a regular this season and after yet another good performance for Pacos de Ferreira, the winger is FARPost’s player of the weekend.
The 23-year-old Stars of Africa graduate continued his 100% record of starting every game in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He is one of only two players in the entire squad to have played in all the games so far in the league and his influence is always felt both in attack and defence for this season’s surprise package in the division. Singh completed his third consecutive loan spell from Sporting Clube Braga.
His first loan was to GD Chaves whom he joined for the second half of the 2018/19 season and scored two league goals and assisted a further two strikes in 17 league games. Last season the winger was loaned to Moreirense where he played regular first team football scoring three goals and laying assists for three more strikes in the process. At the beginning of this season, he made an early loan switch to Pacos de Ferreira and he has established himself as one of the key players in the team.
Singh has featured against the likes of FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica putting some very impressive performances in the league.
On Sunday the attacker played 89 minutes before being substituted in the second half of the game as Ferreira defeated Rio Ave 2-0. They moved up to sixth spot on the log with 19 points from the 12 games played so far. The club is now equal on points with fifth placed Vitoria Guimaraes who have a superior goal difference.
Singh’s game in numbers:
Pass accuracy: 87%
Number of passes: 23
Key passes: 2
Long balls: 4
Pacos Ferreira will take on SAD Belenenses on Sunday and the winger will do battle with fellow South Africans Sphephelo Sithole and Thibang Phete in what promises to be a fierce contest.
