Player of the Weekend: Luther Singh


Luther Singh put in another stellar performance for Pacos Ferreira in Portugal.

The Stars of Africa product got yet another assist as Ferreira defeated Vitoria Guimaraes 2-1 at home to continue their hot form this season in Portugal’s top tier.

Guimaraes striker Oscar Estupinan opened the scoring after 23 minutes turning in a beautiful ball from his striking partner Diogo Costa to give the visitors the lead at Estadio da Mata Real.

It took 10 minutes for the home side to level matters as Singh crossed a beautiful ball into the box that was met by a beautiful overhead kick by Joao Pedro to level matters and bring the home side back into the game.

After a long spell of dominance in the second half, Helder Ferreira gave the home side the lead in the 62nd minute of the game. Pacos Ferreira held on to take all three points against their arch-rivals.

The club remains 5th on the log table with 38 points from 20 games, a point behind Benfica who sit in 4th position with 39 points from the same number of games played in the Primeira Liga.

Singh has featured in all 20 games this season. The 23-year-old has netted two goals and assisted a further four strikes so far. Alongside Helder Ferreira, Joao Pedro and Tanque, the attacker has been giving defenders a hard time in the league as Ferreira continue to stand out as one of the best teams in the entire division so far.

The club will now shift their focus to Saturday’s clash against Santa Clara away from home and Singh will be eager to continue doing well.
