Since making a loan move to Pacos Ferreira in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Bafana Bafana winger Luther Singh has established himself as a regular for the club playing in a more wide attacking position.
The 23-year-old has had goals disallowed and hit the woodwork on a number of occasions prior to Friday night’s encounter with Famalicao in the league.
Singh missed the cup game after the international break due to passport challenges back in South Africa, but he returned on time to play the league game on Friday. He scored the first goal of the game for Ferreira just 20 minutes into the game before Ze Uilton sealed all three points for the hosts with a 88th minute strike.
The win took Pacos Ferreira up to 6th spot in the league after 7 games played in the division thus far.
This is Singh’s third loan spell in Portugal and he is starting to hit the right gears as he hopes to do enough to be recalled back to his parent club SC Braga who are playing in this year’s UEFA Europa League.
He first went out on loan to GD Chaves before going out on another loan to Moreirense who finished last season in the top half of the table and Singh played a vital role for them in that campaign.
At international level the attacker has made some progress in the past two international breaks after being roped in by coach Molefi Ntseki. In October he scored a goal against Namibia before assisting Percy Tau’s second goal in South Africa’s 4-2 triumph against minnows Sao Tome ePrincipe two weeks ago.
