When he left South Africa two years ago Sibusiso Shibane started his journey with Vitoria Setubal before a move to Portimonense in the Primeira Liga.
After playing development football for two seasons the 21-year-old wanted to play regular first team football and a move to third division side Agueda came at the right time before the start of the 2020/21 season.
The striker has started the season on a high after scoring 3 goals in his first 6 league games of the campaign. His first goal came in a 2-1 loss against Vila Cortez on the 20th of September and he scored a beautiful brace this past weekend against Lusitano in a 3-2 away loss in the Campeonato.
For the first goal the striker pounced on a beautifully floated ball from a corner kick in the near post, he finished smoothly with his weaker left foot to make it 1-0 to Agueda before scoring.
The second goal was the highlight of the game as he scored a beautiful solo effort cutting inside from the left wing to slot the ball home with his stronger right foot. Shibane was one of the players who were in the 2018 SA U20 team that travelled to England for a three nations tournament against England and Brazil.
He is also a graduate of the esteemed KZN Academy in Durban.
Speaking to this publication a few months ago the striker from Mtubatuba explained that he will use the move to the Campeonato as a catalyst for his return to Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
The third division is mostly used as a feeder league for the elite leagues in Portugal due to its wide pool of talent that comes through from the lower teams.

Number of passes: 36
Shots at goal: 7
