Thulani Serero continues to impress in the United Arab Emirates.
Last season, the former Ajax Amsterdam midfielder made headlines after helping Al Jazira win the league title and secure qualification to the Asian Champions League football for the new season.
Serero was also voted as the best foreign midfielder in the club after missing only one game in the entire season while impressing in the defensive midfield role.
In the recent league awards held last week, the 31-year-old narrowly missed out on winning the best foreign midfielder in the entire division, but he was ultimately named in the Team of the Season.
The Gulf League started this past weekend and ‘Cream’ was voted as the Man of the Match after playing another solid 90 minutes in Al Jazira’s 2-0 victory against Al Dhafra.
Egyptian midfielder Abdalla Ramadan opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after a beautiful through ball by the South African anchor.
Joao Victor doubled the home side’s advantage in the 70th minute to seal an important victory which ensured that Al Jazira start their title defence on a positive note.
Their second game of the campaign will be against Al-Ittihad Kalba away from home on the 25th of August.
