Chelsea forward Pedro has urged that players may need a short pre-season to readjust when football resumes after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Football has been suspended in almost all parts of the world amid fears that the deadly virus may spread further.
The Spaniard has remained in England during the lockdown while his children and family resides in Spain which has also been hit hard by the pandemic.
“You can train hard at home but that’s nothing compared to the rhythm at the highest level” Pedro told the Chelsea website.
“I imagine there would have to be a short pre-season and then we will probably quickly get on to the remaining games to try to complete the season, but only if possible as there is a lot of talk that some leagues might be able to finish and others won’t,” he said.
“A lot of clubs have now been apart for many days, so it’s going to be difficult to get match fit,” said the 32-year-old.
Pedro added that he had yet to speak to Chelsea about renewing his contract, which ends in May.
