Players need to be tough – Hunt

Bidvest Wits mentor Gavin Hunt believes playing in the CAf Confederations Cup will make his players mentally tough and praised his squad of players for relishing the challenge of playing on the continent.

“You become  tougher (when playing in Africa) – these players need to become mentally tougher and I enjoy it, the players have bought into it, they enjoy it,” says Hunt.
The four-time PSL champion feels the players and the rules are soft in the Premier Soccer League and has callled on South African teams to take up the challenge of playing in Africa as this experience will only improve the mental strength  of South African players and improve the game in the country.
“In Africa the tackles, you can tackle from the waist up you know,” quipped the former SuperSport United coach.
Wits are currently competing in the Confed Cup in Group B with Horoya AC, EL Nasr and Djoliba AC.
On the home front, the Clever Boys will be in action tonight against Cape Town City at Dobsonville Stadium (20:00).
