Players who played most matches: 2019-20 season

Given the stiff competition amongst players in their respective teams in the top division, it is rare to find players who play all the 30 League matches in a single season.

But there are certain players that clubs can’t do without and it was evident this past season as FARPost takes a look at some of the players who played most matches for their respective clubs.

Here are the 9 players who played in each and every League match (30) for their clubs:

Peter Shalulile (Highlands Park)

The joint top scorer alongside Gabadinho Mhango, Shalulile has been one of the star performers in the League this season. The 26-year-old scored 16 goals with two assists and was just cautioned twice in the entire 2019-20 Absa Premiership season.

Ronwen Williams (SuperSport United)

It is for a second successive season that the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper plays all the 30 league matches for United. The recently appointed captain also played every minute for ‘Matsatsantsa’. The 28-year-old kept 13 cleans sheets, the most by any goalkeeper this season.

Daylon Claasen (Maritzburg United)

Claasen is a strong contender for the Absa Premiership Midfielder of the Season accolade. A solid performance in the middle of the park for the ‘Team of Choice’ with five goals and two assists. He was only cautioned once the entire season.

Daniel Cardoso (Kaizer Chiefs)

Cardoso was a pillar in the heart of ‘Amakhosi’ defence this season. Not only did he play in each and every minute but also contributed well in attack.

The 31-year-old scored four goals with two assists, while he was cautioned three times.

Ntsako Makhubela (Golden Arrows)

Makhubela has been a star player for Golden Arrows and this was evident as he played in all 30 League matches. The 26-year-old scored one and assisted one goal this season.

Rushine De Reuck (Maritzburg United)

Rock-solid at the back, the 24-year-old was a key member of the Eric Tinkler side. De Reuck also scored one goal and assisted one during the season.

Although he was overlooked for a Bafana Bafana call-up, De Reuck was one of the best defenders of the season.

Bonginkosi Ntuli (AmaZulu)

Ntuli was unfortunate not to finish as the league top goal scorer following an impressive early form in the season.

The 29-year-old contributed 14 of the 20 goals scored by ‘Usuthu’ this season after scoring 13 of them and assisting in one.

Matome Mathiane (Golden Arrows)

The Arrows captain has been Mr reliable for the club playing in all the 30 matches.

The 31-year-old who has been with ‘Abafana Bes’thende’ since 2013 and has now reached the 100 mark games for the club, playing in 135 in all competitions.

Siyethemba Sithebe (AmaZulu)

Sithebe has immense potential to reach greater heights and is one of the key players for Usuthu. Hard-working, a good reader of the game and a good passer, the 27-year-old was deservedly part of the playing squad in all the matches.
