Polokwane City have expressed their interest in keeping former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kabelo Mahlasela beyond the conclusion of the current season.
Mahlasela was released by Chiefs on Tuesday after his contract expired.
The 29-year-old was on loan at ‘Rise and Shine’ for the past 6 months and has since been given a 2-month extension to remain in Polokwane for the remaining matches.
“We have given him an extension of 2 months which started this week until the end of August but in this 2 months we are thinking of engaging him with an intention to sign him and make him a permanent player for Polokwane City,” CEO Tincy Tema tells FARPost.
“We only started with the extension but as time goes on and before the end of August we shall have engaged him for a permanent contract. In terms of recruiting other players we have put that on hold for now because we don’t know when the season is going to come to an end. As I am speaking to you we are not so sure when will the league restart and when will it end,” he said.
Efforts to reach Mahlasela for a comment on his future were unsuccessful.
