Polokwane City release senior players

FARPost can reveal that GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City have terminated the services of several senior players after failing to gain promotion this past season.

City were relegated to the first division at the end of the 2019/20 season after spending seven seasons in the top division.

The club opted to keep the majority of the squad for their stay in the lower division, but the move didn’t bring any desired results for the Limpopo club.

Rise and Shine have since decided to let go of Zambian international goalkeeper Cyril Chibwe, veteran midfielder Elias Pelembe, defender Nicholas Motloung and Mpho Mvelase, midfielders Vusimuzi Mngomezulu, Eden Nene and Salulani Phiri.

The future of Zimbabwean striker Charlton Mashumba remains uncertain.

City had not closed for pre-season only until Tuesday, 29 June.
