Polokwane City target top 8 finish

Veteran midfielder Jabulani Maluleke insists Polokwane City does not deserve to be rooted at the bottom half of the Absa Premiership log standings.

‘Rise and Shine’, who finished 5th last season, find themselves in trouble of having to fight relegation in the current season with 7 fixtures to finish the season.

Also in the relegation mix are City neighbours Black Leopards and Baroka as well as AmaZulu who are all 3 points below them.

“Yeah, we don’t deserve to be where we are, you understand? But we just have to solider on and not look back,” the 37-year-old told FARPost after their 2-1 win against Leopards on Sunday.

“Now we have to move forward. Our goal for now is to make it in the Top 8 so anything is possible,” he said.

City are 8 points within a Top 8 place and still have to face some tough fixtures against the likes of Maritzburg, Chiefs, SuperSport United, Highlands Park and Bloemfontein Celtic.
