In what promises to be an epic battle of Friday football in Western Cape, Stellenbosch FC will host AmaZulu at 17:00.
Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu will fancy their chances when they visit Stellenbosch today at Daniel Craven Stadium in a Dstv Premiership clash.
Usuthu have won their previous five league games and will look to extend their points tally to 37 with a victory against Steve Barker’s inconsistent charges. Stellies have been conceding late in the game in their past three encounters, resulting in them drawing two and losing one.
With Benni’s troops lethal in front of goals, Stellies defence will have a mammoth task of stopping a side that has scored 27 goals already.
The Durban side has been dominant in the last five encounters between the two teams, winning three while the Western Cape outfit has managed one victory and the other match ended in a draw.
The two sides have had contrasting fortunes coming into this match with Usuthu fighting to consolidate their position in the top two while Stellenbosch are looking to sneak into the top eight.
The men from Durban have accumulated 34 points after winning nine, drawing seven and losing four of their 20 matches thus far, meanwhile the men from the Winelands boast of 22 points and have recorded five victories, seven draws and eight defeats.
With the Dstv Premiership in its climax stage every point is important and all the teams are dangerous as they hunt for maximum points.
The pace of Stellenbosch attack orchestrated by Ashley Du Preez, Lelethu Skelem and Junior Mendieta will be key to test the experience of the likes of Thapelo Xoki, Mbongeni Gumede and Tshepo Masilela in AmaZulu’s defence.
