Paris St-Germain (PSG) have shown Thomas Tuchel the door after two and a half years as the club’s manager.
The German mentor took over the reins at PSG in June 2018, having won two league titles, the French Cup and French League Cup.
He helped the Parisian club to reach the Champions League final for the first time last season, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.
Tuchel’s sacking came hours after he took charge of Wednesday’s 4-0 home win against Strasbourg. The team’s inconsistency seems to be the reason behind his sacking.
The sporting director Leonardo Nascimento and club president Nasser Al Khelaifi informed Tuchel of his ousting from his role as the club’s manager.
The 48-year-old leaves PSG placed third in Ligue 1 log standings, just a point behind log leaders Lyon.
The club also qualified for the last 16 of the Uefa Champions League, and they will lock horns with Barcelona.
Former Borussia Dortmund mentor’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season.
